At Glebe Infants and Picklenash Juniors we offer a vibrant mix of clubs and activities. Some of these activities, such as music lessons, take place during school hours, but others are in the form of optional after-school clubs.

Music Lessons include violin, brass & woodwind with skilled peripatetic teachers. A larger choice of lessons, such as guitar and piano, will be available this coming year.

Generally after-school clubs start straight after school and finish between 4pm and 4.15pm. All children need to be collected from the appropriate school front entrance at this time. If your child cannot attend club that day, please send a note to the teacher running the club.

School Council

This is the children’s forum in school, any child can put themselves forward to be elected democratically.  Each candidate will be given time to think of a speech and explain to their class why they think they would be the best person to represent the views of the class.  The class then votes on who they feel would make the best School Council Rep. We have 10 representatives in our school.

The purpose
•    Show the importance of democracy.
•    Improve on things to make their school better. 
•    Find new ways to improve the school.
•    To give every child a voice to make all decision making fair. 
 
Roles of the School Council Members
All members of the school council have a duty to report back any information they discuss to their classes, every week. They must also make sure they represent the views of every child in their own classes by sharing them at school council. They can record this information in their school council book. 

Everybody's views, ideas and opinions matter. All children and staff can contact their School Council representative by speaking to them during free time or School Council feedback sessions  
 
School Council Representatives are:

•    Respectful to all everybody and their school environment
•    Trustworthy
•    Obedient to the school rules
•    Determined, even if they meet a challenge
•    Prepared for the day
•    Responsible
•    Conscientious

Each year the representatives change to bring new ideas and enthusiasm to the school, so far the children have organised, chosen and tested playtime equipment to use at lunchtime,  interviewed candidates for new staff, including their head teacher’s post!  They have been part of the school menu choices and are currently in the process of creating a class booklet for new children.

Parent Focus Group

An ever growing group of parents who are passionate about supporting the school.  The group meets every half term to discuss ways in which to enhance what the school already offers and bring new ideas to the table. So far the group have spent time on devising a new Home/School Agreement, talking to parents about the kind of head they would like to replace the retiring Mrs Griffiths and most recently looking at how the school website serves its community.  Refreshments and homemade cake are available each time they meet, this is not an exclusive group, so if you wish to join or have any ideas you may wish voiced then please contact Kay Selwyn via the school office.
