Royal Visit
On Thursday 24th April, Newent had the honour of receiving the Earl and Countess of Wessex. The couple were in Newent to celebrate the hard work done by the local church and its supporters. The infant children lined the main road into Newent to welcome the Royal Couple into the town whilst the junior children lined the street by St Mary's Church. The children waved flags and cheered as the royal car pulled up, although some of our infant children were disappointed there was no golden carriage. Prince Edward and Sophie spoke to children and local residents when they arrived at the church. Mrs Griffiths was lucky enough to meet them both and Prince Edward said how pleased he was with "the lovely lot of noise the children were making" as they arrived.
