Welcome to EYFS!
Hello from Jade and Jasper Class!
Our teachers are Mrs Saleem and Mrs Beech.
We have lots of fun and do lots of learning in Reception!
The Early Years Foundation Stage at Glebe Infant School has strong links with parents and practitioners in the three pre-school settings which feed into the school. During the summer terms, we meet with new parents, visit the pre-schools and welcome the pre-school children during their, ‘Getting to Know You’, visits to school. Once the children have visited with their friends, know what happens at playtimes and lunchtimes and have used the toilets, everything else seems to fall into place!
The EYFS children have their own self-contained unit, including toilets, outside play space and large classrooms. This provides them with a base that they can return to with confidence. The children gradually become involved in the wider school activities and by Christmas, every reception child takes a part in the whole school Christmas Production.
All the children have free access to the outdoors for their own activities and many of the teacher or adult led activities take place outside, as well. We foster independence and help the children to develop the confidence to make their own discoveries and apply what they have been learning in activities that inspire them.
Parents are invited to regular, ‘Stay and Play’ sessions and the reception team works closely with parents to ensure that their child is able to settle and thrive in their first year in school.
